Over this four week course learn the ins and outs of creating an artist's book. In the first session, create two simple bound structures that you will use throughout the course. In the following sessions we'll cover transforming pages, approaching theme and narrative, and combining images and text. Learn how to create original text and use found text creatively. Transfer found and original images into layered compositions. Learn various painting and priming techniques for pages as well as altering techniques for adding ephemera. The possibilities for creation are endless, and you'll come away with a handmade book filled with pages overflowing with color, type, sketches and observations as well as the techniques to continue making artists’ books on your own.
