Hedi Kyle’s Flagbook structure can be used in many ways. During this class, students will discover new ideas that go beyond the ‘traditional’ flags. Students will leave with several sample structures and the skills to make books on their own at home.

The structure begins with a concertina fold, pages are attached to the folds in alternate directions to create a one-of-a-kind book. The focus during this workshop will be on how to change the size of the flags to vary the final form of the book. Students will also get to experiment with different materials to construct their books to understand how different materials respond to the structure.

There will be no collage or content added during class but option for adding content at home will be discussed.

Past Student Reviews:

“It was a very fun class! I really enjoyed Bettina's examples and it showed me there are so many possibilities for the flag book.”

“I can't wait to take more classes with Bettina!”

“Low key and pretension free delivery of content. As newbies, I was worried I would be completely out of my league. However, we weren't left to the lions as Bettina showed us the possibilities of the form and then let us play, explore and tinker.”

“Clear directions, examples to look at, time and space to work.”
