Both the French Twist and Herringbone way of binding beautifully showcase different ways to bind a book; the sewing is elegant and attention-grabbing, without being too “gimmicky”. In this daylong class, students create two different softcover books, while becoming comfortable with the sewing of these particular stitches. Completed books have an exposed spine, in order to highlight the binding. Additional class discussions focus on different ways to attach soft covers to multiple signature textblocks – perfect for blank books and journals!
