Learn the basics of linoleum-block design, carving, and printing. In this workshop, led by master printer Rik Olson, you will create a three-color linoleum carved print using a key block and two color blocks. Images will be made using blue, yellow, and black inks creating a broader color gamut in the areas where blocks overlap. You’ll get tips on using the tools, transferring images to the block, and registering colors, the basics of Cylinder Press operations plus Rik’s own secrets to a beautifully executed print. The instructor will also discuss how blocks can be printed by hand at home.

Materials to Bring: An idea of the image 6"x8". Do sketches at the 6x8 size so we can transfer them to the blocks (allow a border). 2. If you have woodcut or linocut tools of your own please bring them. Speedball linocut tool sets will be available for use during the class.
