In this workshop, students will learn how to transfer both colored inkjet and black & white laser prints onto various surfaces including fabric and paper. The instructor will demonstrate how to prepare black & white laser prints using matte medium, how to layer surfaces with water based media, and how to transfer colored inkjet and black & white laser prints onto prepared surfaces. Students will get to experiment with these techniques in class and will leave with a small collection of samples and the ability to continue working with these processes at home.
Materials to Bring: Paint brushes (3-5 white synthetic, round and flat, non-bristle brushes, ranging in size from small to large), 1-2 B&W laser prints (around 3" - 5" in length/width or smaller), email instructor 1-2 color images a few days before class (to be printed on the Lazertran inkjet transfer paper).
Optional and availble at SFCB for use during workshop: Scissors, utility knife for cutting, self-healing cutting mat.

About the Instructor | Rea de Guzman
Rea (pron. ray-uh) de Guzman is an interdisciplinary artist working in painting, print media, and sculpture. Originally from Manila, Philippines, she immigrated to the United States as a teenager. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited her work in Chicago, the Bay Area, and internationally in India. Her sculpture After Maria Clara's Piña Fiber Sleeve was featured at Emergent Art Space and ARTslant, where it was awarded ARTslant’s 6th 2014 Showcase Juried Winner in the mixed-media category.
She is currently a studio artist and instructor at Root Division. She lives and works in San Francisco.
