(IN PERSON) 01.24.25: Opening reception at San Francisco Center for the Book :: 6:00 - 8:00 pm :: RSVP here!
San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) is pleased to host the exhibition OPEN/SET in our gallery. Sponsored by the American Academy of Bookbinding (Telluride, CO), OPEN/SET is a prestigious triennial exhibition celebrating the art of finely crafted design bookbindings. The exhibition features an impressive range of works from both emerging bookbinders and seasoned professionals. Gallery visitors will encounter traditional techniques such as onlay, inlay, gold tooling, titling, and edge treatment, alongside innovative contemporary interpretations of bookbinding methods and structures. Together, these works highlight the enduring artistry and evolving creativity of fine design binding today.
This exhibition takes place at both San Francisco Center for the Book and the American Bookbinders Museum. SFCB is honored to exhibit fine bindings in the OPEN category; the American Bookbinders Museum hosts bindings in the SET category.
SFCB is proud to highlight the OPEN/SET exhibition as part of SF Art Week. Onsite public programming for the exhibition will take place throughout SF Art Week at SFCB.
