In-Person Workshop Registration Policies

SFCB in person workshops are hosted at our Rhode Island Street facility. SFCB does not accept walk-ins to workshops; pre-registration is required. SFCB offers three terms per year: January-April, May-August, and September-December. Workshops are posted 6-8 weeks before the start of the new term. The Bookbinding and Letterpress Core workshop series are offered each term.

Students and instructors are welcome to wear or forego masks as they prefer.

Registration:
Workshops require a minimum number of students in order to run; therefore we encourage students to register early. Workshops are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You may register online (preferred), by phone, or in person. You will receive an email when your registration is fully paid and complete. The workshop fee covers one adult student unless otherwise specified. Please do not bring any additional people to class with you; they will be asked to leave.

Waitlists:
We maintain waitlists for in person workshops. If a workshop is full, please add yourself to the waitlist via the website. Students on the waitlist will be contacted via email and phone if space becomes available; priority will be given to the first person signed up on the waitlist. We ask that waitlisted students not show up for a workshop unless they’ve been notified that there is room for them. We do not allow audits or observers, either paid or unpaid.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations will receive workshop credit if you cancel seven (7) or more business days before your workshop. If you cancel less than seven (7) or more business days before your workshop, no credit can be issued. You will forfeit the workshop fee unless a waitlist has been established and another student can take your place, in which case you will receive workshop credit. If you are having an emergency, please contact us. No-shows (no call or email notice) will not receive accomodations.

Credit expires six months after the issue date.

If SFCB cancels a workshop:
Registered students will be notified if a workshop is at risk of cancellation due to low enrollment one week before the start date. If the workshop is cancelled, students will be given two days' notice of cancellation. If you are travelling to SFCB, please feel free to check in with us prior to finalizing your travel arrangements. If we cancel the workshop due to low enrollment, we will move you into the next available date for that workshop, or issue you a credit or refund at your request.

Absence Policy for Multi-Session Workshops:
SFCB does not offer make-up sessions for any missed workshop days. If a student misses a workshop session, they need to make up what was missed in that session by hiring a tutor for a private lesson before the next session of the workshop. The SFCB tutoring rate is a minimum of $65/hr and requests for tutors should be sent to workshops@sfcb.org. Students missing workshop sessions without private make-up sessions for any Core Curriculum workshop will not receive certification or be able to rent studio time.

Accommodations
If you are a person with a disability and require an accommodation to participate in a program, service or activity, or require documents in alternative formats, please contact Sarah Songer at 415-565-0545 x 103 or email at sarah@sfcb.org. We request at least 14 business days advance notice before the accommodation will be needed.

Additional Workshop Policies:
Photography and video recording of workshops are prohibited unless specifically authorized by the workshop's instructor. Under no circumstances shall audio, video, or photography be published online or in print without prior authorization by SFCB.
