Craig and Aya of Awagami will show an informative slide video presentation that will explain how Japanese washi is made, the benefits of washi and show many examples of unique artworks created with washi. They will also show how Awagami cooperates with artists and students internationally and discuss the mills unique cultural conservation projects at home in Japan.
Awagami paper samples will be given to all attendees and the presentation will be followed by a Q & A Session with Craig and Aya.
Awagami Factory is a brand of Japanese washi papers produced soley in Tokushima, Japan. The mill operates on 8 generations of the Fujimori family's knowledge and skill resulting in washi that are used by the worlds' leading artists, consevators and craftspeople. As a modern-day facilitator or washi culture, Awagami also operates a peper museum, conducts exhibitions & workshops and maintains and artist in residency program.
