Interested applicants must apply at least 3 weeks before their selected workshop's start date to be considered for financial assistance. Applicants will be notified at least 2 weeks before the workshop begins regarding whether or not the application has been approved.

Deadline to apply: this scholarship has a rolling application deadline and is ongoing.

Alice A. Forlin Memorial Scholarship

The Alice A. Forlin Memorial Scholarship is intended to assist emerging underrepresented artists whose practice would benefit from in-depth exposure to letterpress printing or bookbinding.

The scholarship covers full tuition and materials cost of either the Bookbinding Core 1-4 :: Weeklong Intensive or the Cylinder Core 1-4 :: 4-Day Intensive during the Winter workshop term (January-April). SFCB defines an emerging artist as someone in the early stages of their artistic career who has not yet gained widespread recognition or significant professional experience. This includes recent graduates of arts programs or individuals who are actively developing their artistic practice.

The scholarships for 2025 have been awarded. The application for 2026 will open in late 2025.
