Learn two different stitching patterns, from the many interesting patterns created by Keith Smith, to dress up a single and a double-section pamphlet. Students will fold signatures and use handmade paper covers on which decorative patterns will be created. The beautiful stitching is functional and sews the signatures onto the cover—it’s ingenious and fun.

Skills learned in class:
-creating signatures; grain direction, folding, pressing, trimming
-learn how to create & transfer patterns on the spine for sewing holes
-learn different cover patterns; turn-ins, how to re-enforce the spine

“bowties” for a single-section pamphlet, “dash & bars” for a double-section pamphlet
