In a day of creative play, explore pressure printing, in which prints are created from a low-relief collaged plate; the resulting image is something like a rubbing, something like a print, and always interesting. You can achieve fabulous results from even the simplest combination of textural elements. As a second layer, you’ll have the option to choose from SFCB’s great collection of vintage wood type to enhance your pressure prints with graphic elements. Come away with a variable edition of 5-10 prints. Your new pressure printing skills will enhance your books, broadsides, and invitations.

Materials to Bring: Optional (a variety of materials will be provided by the instructor): Please bring anything squishy that you think may print- we will experiment with many textures. Examples include- textured paper such as flocked wallpaper, decorative papers with raised textures; paper stencils, shaped stickers, sticky letters; fabrics such as lace, fishnet stockings, net produce bags, doll clothes; ribbons, string, yarn; tapes of different thicknesses.

Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: scissors, utility knife, pencil.
