The binding covered in this workshop has an exposed spine where the twisted pattern is visible. The sewing is elegant and attention-grabbing. In this workshop, we will create a softcover sample book while becoming comfortable with the sewing of this stitch. Each book sample will have an exposed spine in order to showcase the binding. In addition, the instructor will discuss different ways to attach soft covers to multiple signature text blocks—perfect for blank books, journals, or books sewn on tapes.

X-ACTO knife (with extra blades); bone folder; pencil; right angle triangle (small or medium size); a pair of scissors; bookbinders awl; any additional papers or ephemera that might be used as decoration for book covers (photos; collage elements; etc.).
