PHOTOGRAPHERS: Are you looking for an imaginative way to draw attention to your images?
BOOK ARTISTS: Are you looking for innovative ways to incorporate photo into your books?
ART MAKERS: Do you have tons of images on your phone just begging for further play?

Answering "Yes" means that you are ready to explore the intersection of photography and paper engineering; in short, PHOTO POP-UPS. This workshop unpacks the fundamentals of paper engineering by discussing tools and materials, examining trade book examples, and ultimately building a series of foundational structures. And because YOUR photos are what matters most to you, there will be dedicated time to incorporating your own images into paper-engineered structures. You will leave the class with a bound collection of models and a means of satisfying the itch to take your photos one step further.

Past Student Reviews:

"Shawn is a phenomenal instructor. Even with such technical material, he was very efficient and effective in teaching via Zoom. His mastery, passion, and teaching style were very inspirational!"

“Had fun being led through pop-up making instead of trying to figure a pop-up out through reading a book; instruction in a workshop includes warnings of accidental diversions and allows for in-the-moment questions and answers.”

“The whole setup was great. The content of the workshop was a good level too - I am a pop-up novice but felt I could manage to follow along quite easily.”

"This was a fantastic experience. Shawn is the best. He is knowledgable and so patient."

“The best best workshop I have taken on Zoom.”
