This is an in-person workshop. All students and the instructor are required to be vaccinated (honor system) and agree to wear a mask for the duration of the class. If you choose to complete the registration process you are agreeing to these terms.

Also known as a “star” book, this structure provides endless opportunities for design and experimentation. The instructor guides students through the process of planning, creating, and constructing a carousel book – all in one action-packed day! Additional class discussions will focus on calculating page dimensions and layout for different sizes of carousel books – a process that may seem daunting at first, but isn’t as tricky as it seems!

Materials to Bring: Any additional papers/ephemera that might be used as decoration for book covers (photos/collage elements/etcetera).

Optional: You may want to bring additional items for page decoration and creating imagery, since we will spend an hour or two in class working on the “insides” of our books. Some suggestions: rubber stamps, colored pencils, items for collage, small bits of ephemera, pen & inks, stencils, etc.

Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: utility knife, bone folder, pencil, right angle triangle (small or medium size is o.k.), glue brush, scissors, awl.

Workshop Fee (includes $20 materials fee): $185.00

Past Student Reviews:

"Bettina was so organized and patient and beyond creative!”

“Bettina had a lot of good suggestions for the easiest & best ways to do many of the tasks.”

“For me, the teacher makes or breaks a class. She was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, personable, and taught in a very linear fashion. Everything was ready to go, the supplies were quality, and she walked through each step giving us individual attention.”
