This is a two session online workshop, Thursdays August 5 & 12.

In this continuation of the Introduction to Image Transfers workshop, students will learn how to apply and incorporate image transfers onto their current projects such as books, collages, mixed media works, small paintings and even sculpture.

After a brief review of how to prepare laser prints using matte and gel medium, the instructor will demonstrate how to layer surfaces with acrylic paint onto prepared surfaces such as canvas, paper, and wood. The instructor will also demonstrate how to add a second layer of image transfer over a previously done transfer, creating a more complex composition with depth. Please have some porous materials to apply these transfers to (examples: current works-in-progress mentioned above, or any of these surfaces: canvas, fabric, paper, wood). Please note that matte and gel transfers will not be archival on non-porous surfaces such as glass so keep that in mind. Emphasis will be placed on continuous experimentation and combination of techniques.

Open to students who have not taken the Introduction to Image Transfers workshop, but some familiarity with the concept is suggested as the review portion of class will move quickly.

NOTE: Images printed by inkjet will not work for this process. If you are uncertain about your printer, we recommend you make a few Xerox copies at a local copy shop or shipper (UPS, FedEx/Kinko’s)
