The instructor will demonstrate how to add lines to the board's surface to create the light to dark values desired to complete the image. A variety of scratch mark making techniques will be shown using various tools such as a scratch knife, X-acto knife with a No 11 blade, sandpaper, and a ruler to help create straight lines. “ I liked the structure of the class where there was time spent exploring the techniques and really understanding it before working on the final project. The instructor explained information really well and was an excellent teacher. Very supportive and entertaining. He really knows his stuff!”

“I really loved this class. It has been one of my best experiences at the Center for the Book.”

“Ralph has a deep appreciation for - and experience -with scratchboarding, as well as lots of practical tips on how to continue the craft at home for beginners. Very encouraging, patient, and imaginative!”
