Protect delicate books or suites of prints in elegant and durable full-cloth covered clamshell presentation boxes. On Day 1, working from a provided template, students will be guided through the process of constructing custom clamshell boxes for books, suites of prints and other media. On Day 2, Students will themselves design and construct a box for a small book, suite of prints, or object of their choosing. Students will be invited but not required to bring their own materials to work with on their individual projects. All skills learned in Day 1 will now have to be applied by the student to their individual project including spec'ing and cutting boards, scaling & design.

On Day 1: students will learn critical aspects of measuring & scaling, board cutting, tray construction, cover making, casing in, and options for labels and inlays. Also addressed will be various alterations and enhancements of the clam-shell structure.

On Day 2 students will readdress all skills covered on Day 1, but will have to apply those skills directly to a custom project of their own choosing.

Past Student Reviews:

“The instructor explained things in an understandable and easy to digest manner, provided tips to keep in mind, was able and available to help with anything that students did not feel 100% sure about.”

“Andy gave us a very in depth day of instruction on the box and we made a dummy from this. The second day was a challenge to make a box for a specific object and to see how we learned from day 1. Thought the second day would be hard but turned out to be a wonderful experience with Andy just nearby to guide us along and we all got done in record time.”

“A fun instructor to work with making our time worth being there.”
