Create a simple book structure in which pages are divided into three parts- the head, body and legs of a creature or person. Using collage, stencils and drawing students will add content to their original creations. As a final layer text will be incorporated into each book and other abstract imagery will be discussed.  


Materials to Bring: Collage materials, poetry for adding text, drawing tools such as colored pens, shapes, drawings, images to work from if desired.

Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: utility knife, pencil and eraser, scissors

About the Instructor | Macy Chadwick

Macy Chadwick, MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, has taught at the Academy of Art University, Colorado College, Oregon College of Art and Craft, the New York Center for Book Arts, and in her own studio. She worked as studio assistant to Julie Chen at Flying Fish Press in Berkeley for three years. Publishing as In Cahoots Press, Macy produces limited edition books & prints, and explores mixed media sculptures involving text. Her artist's books have been displayed nationally and are in collections in the U.S. and abroad. You can see Macy's work on her website.
