Tabletop platen presses might be small but they pack a punch! These clamshell-style presses are great for printing cards, invitations, bookmarks, and coasters. Unlike cylinder presses, they are capable of printing on oddly shaped papers as well as those of unusual thickness, such as coasters.
Topics covered include typesetting, locking up the chase, handling registration, ink mixing, printing edition work, and press clean up. Students will work through a variety of projects as they learn to operate these versatile letterpresses.
*Completion of this 2-day workshop qualifies you to rent Tabletop Platen Presses at San Francisco Center for the Book.
