You might know the pamphlet stitch but not quite like this. Spend a day learning learning to step up your pamphlet stitch game with decorative stitches and attractive covers.

A cornerstone of the book arts world, pamphlet stitch bindings are easy enough to make for a wide range of uses. If you’ve been tiring of the standard variation, take a day to learn three embellished sewing patterns based on those developed by bookbinder Keith Smith and bring some extra pizazz to single signature spines. Throughout the day the instructor will also discuss and demonstrate an assortment of cover options that will give these simple books a more refined look and feel. At the end of the day each student will leave with blank notebooks that are ready to use.

Materials to Bring: Metal triangle.

Optional and available at SFCB for student use during workshop: pencil, ruler with metric units, awl, bone folder, utility knife, dividers.

Optional: small plyers, decorative heavy-weight paper to use for book covers.
