Also known as ‘shepherd’s purse' or ‘explosion page’ and often used commercially for tourist maps, the Turkish map fold is a simple and impactful feature to add to a binding. The surface of this fold pops out dramatically beyond the pages that contain it. Students in this class will learn to fold the ‘purse’ and ways to connect their folded pages to turn them into books. There will also be an exploration of different options for covering their pages and everyone will leave finished map folded book works.
