Great bags for traveling art kits or the perfect gift for an artist friend, these waterproof and nearly indestructible tool cases are made from repurposed Tyvek envelopes. The cases made in this course can be any size: big, small, long, or whatever size and shape suits each student’s needs. Store bone folders, scissors, paint brushes, pica poles, ink knives, pens and more in a customized pouch. Students will learn how to break down the envelopes and reshape them into something entirely new. The instructor will also demonstrate zipper insertion, how to create mark-making stamps, and how paint the Tyvek so each participant leaves with their own unique tool case. At the end of class, students can throw the case into their bags ready to go!

*Please note, this workshop will demonstrate the use of sewing machines in the construction process. If students do not have access to sewing machines after class and wish to recreate this project, the instructor will discuss the possibilities of hand-sewn construction as an alternative.
