You don’t need a photopolymer plate to achieve fields of color and pattern on a Vandercook press! Learn two easy, versatile printmaking techniques that will add life and dimension to your invitations, posters and books. First, you’ll explore pressure printing, in which prints are created from a low-relief collage. The resulting image is something like a rubbing, something like a print, and always interesting. You can achieve fabulous results from even the simplest combination of elements. Next, you’ll choose from SFCB’s great collection of wood type to create unique compositions of words and images to enhance your pressure prints.

Materials to Bring: Textured papers, fabric, tape, string, scissors, X-acto knif, pencil.
