This is a fast-paced class where you will work steadily throughout the day to make a complete book measuring about 4” x 6” with 96 pages. The textblock will be sewn on leather or linen cord supports and laced into the covers in a traditional medieval type of binding.

Because these books were created in an era where they would be used daily, their construction and design elements are enhanced by wear and usage. Each decision will influence the final design, and the craft techniques are simple enough that you will be able to make more books after you take this class. A supplier’s list will be provided and some tools and supplies will be available for purchase should you be taken enough to make books on your own.

Materials to Bring: Basic bookbinding tools – needles, bone folder, ruler, scissors, knife

Workshop + Materials Fee: $180.00
