This class will teach you the fundamentals of woodblock carving and build upon previous design and printmaking skills.  Operating as an introductory and intermediate course, we will learn basic carving techniques and printing methods.  This class is ideal for students new to woodblock printmaking, and those who are already well versed in the medium

Multi-woodblock printmaking is an essential way to add color to your prints.  Artists have been using multi-woodblock printing to create images in books and as fine art prints for centuries upon centuries.  We will use this age old tradition of image making, in a contemporary world of visual stimuli.  This method of printing works well with graphic imagery, as well as more subtle and abstract work.

Students will be supplied with the woodblocks and/or linoleum blocks for carving (sized at 6 in x 6 in), paper for proofing and printing, and ink for printing.

Materials to Bring: All students will need to bring drawings/imagery to translate into the woodcuts as well as their own tools for carving.
