Encaustic Collagraph is a printmaking class where the printing plate is made by painting encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin) onto an acrylic panel.  The acrylic panel will be used as a drypoint plate in conjunction with the encaustic wax on the plate.  The acrylic plate and the wax then can be carved into producing rich surfaces.  The wax-based plate is then inked and printed onto paper. The encaustic collagraph process is very immediate and produces wonderful tonal details. Each student will receive four printing plates and multiple color printing will be covered using water-based inks making the total process non-toxic.  Individual reviews of each student will take place as well as an over viewing of each other’s work.
