The Mobile Mill brings the papermaking studio direct to The Center for the Book in this introductory to hand papermaking workshop. This ‘crash course’ will introduce students to basic hand papermaking techniques while making use of recycled materials such as pre/post consumer paper waste and fabrics. Throughout this course, handmade paper will be treated as a medium for art-making. Students will be encouraged to think conceptually about their personal work, leaving each class having made their own letter-sized handmade papers – great for drawing, painting, writing, and printmaking. This course is recommended to beginner papermakers; no prior experience is necessary to enroll. Ages 10 and up.

Materials to bring: Students should wear waterproof shoes, or be okay with their shoes getting wet. Students are welcomed to bring paper waste from their homes (ie. junk mail, newspapers, magazines) for class pulp-making as well as personal paper mementos for collage processes.

Workshop + Materials Fee: $75.00
