Books can be made out of anything so why recycle when you can repurpose?
Food and beverage packaging has some of the best design around. In this workshop, we'll look at ways to turn packaging into book covers.
Students will begin by making a 3-hole pamphlet stitch notebooks from six-pack containers then move on to making pamphlet stitch notebooks with pockets from cereal boxes and Japanese stab books from dessert packaging.
Students are encouraged to bring questions about how their favorite food and drink packaging can be turned into a book. These challenges will be discussed as time allows.
Everyone will leave the class with 3 - 4 completed notebooks.
Materials to bring: Writing implement for note taking.

About the Instructor | Nina Eve Zeininger
Nina Eve has been obsessed with books since receiving Harold and the Purple Crayon as a child before she knew how to read. While receiving her BFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, she took as many book and printmaking classes as possible. She now spends her time working as the Project Coordinator and teaching at SFCB, making and selling her printed and bookish wares, and learning French.
