Want to print on oddly shaped paper or unusually thick stock such as pulp coasters? Try out SFCB’s C&P floor-model platen press. In many ways more challenging to use than a Vandercook proof press, this treadle-run or motorized press can produce larger editions in less time. This two-session class will tackle issues specific to printing on a platen press: chase lockup, paper feeding, packing, registration, and using photopolymer plates. It will also investigate issues such as feeding paper consistently, adjusting the platen, preparing makeready, printing on thick paper, scoring paper, and using a creasing matrix.

The Letterpress Core: Floor-Model Platen Press workshop qualifies participants to rent time on SFCB's C&P floor model.
