This introduction-level workshop is designed to familiarize you with Japanese Stab Binding. You will: measure and prepare materials; punch/drill stab patterns; learn helpful tips and tricks to keep stab-binding aligned using household materials; learn the sequence and rhythm of Japanese-stab binding. In class, you will make 3 Japanese stab-binding notebooks to take home. 


Materials to Bring: Notebook and pen to take notes.

About the Instructor | C.K Itamura

C.K.Itamura is a letterpress and reduction linocut printer, photographer and producer. Her work blurs the lines between mediums as she combines letterpress and reduction linocut printing with photography, social commentary, personal idealism, live presentation and mixed media.

In 2013, San Francisco Center for the Book selected C.K.Itamura to be one of ten featured artists to create large scale, carved linoleum, steamroller printed, limited edition prints at the 10th Annual Roadworks Steamroller Printing Festival in San Francisco.

Her studio, Peach Farm Studio is based in Sonoma County, California. She teaches letterpress, reduction linocut and other linoleum block-based classes and workshops in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the North Bay.
