So you've taken some classes and made some awesome journals – but the blank page is a scary thing, right? In this workshop, students will work on conquering that fear through collage.

Workshop participants will add content to books by repurposing what is already available in magazines and books. The class will start with a review of different examples of collage art.

Students will make a simple three-hole pamphlet stitch notebook to use as a receptacle for collages. Students will experiment with found word poetry and altering images found in magazines with pen, pencil, washi tape and more, to tell a story that is all their own.

The class will also play with simple image transfer methods that expand the possibilites of collage. Everyone will leave with a notebook filled with ideas to spur the creative process. Check out stellar examples of collages here!

About the Instructor | Nina Eve Zeininger

Nina Eve has been obsessed with books since receiving Harold and the Purple Crayon as a child before she knew how to read. While receiving her BFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, she took as many book and printmaking classes as possible. She now spends her time working as the Project Coordinator and teaching at SFCB, making and selling her printed and bookish wares, and learning French.

"Nina is confident and reassuring. I like her approach to teaching us not to fear! It was all great."

"This was one of the best-run workshops I have ever attended. Nina was helpful, attentive, and organized. Stellar!"

"Nina is awesome! She's fun, kind, and teaches just what's necessary for a 3 hour class."
