Upcycling is the method of using waste materials to create useful products. You will disassemble an old hardcover book, leaving its signatures mostly intact, and interleave the signatures with calendar paper. You will be encouraged to share your signatures with other students for variety. You will learn how to strengthen the cover and sew the textblock into the old case to make a creative and unique calendar you can utilize all year.

Materials to bring: Ruler, bone folder, scissors, 9mm Olfa snap-off knife, cutting mat, 1” wide glue brush, bookbinding awl, pencil and paper (for note taking).

Materials fee: $30

Please note: This workshop will take place at our new location: 375 Rhode Island St, San Francisco, CA 94103
