Learn how to make detailed, high-quality photopolymer plates from digital files and film for letterpress printing. No prior darkroom experience is needed, but it’s helpful to know the basics of letterpress printing or computer typesetting. You’ll receive a handout of invaluable resource material. Both metal-backed and sticky-backed platemaking will be covered. Joel will contact you beforehand with instructions to create digital files that will then be made into film. This lab qualifies you to rent the Center's photopolymer platemaker.

Materials to bring: none
Materials Fee: $5. If you will be submitting your own file to make plates there will also be a $15 charge for film, and an additional $20 charge for plate material.*Note, if you register less than 3 days in advance of the workshop you may not be able to make a plate from your own negative.
