After taking Letterpress Printing on a Vandercook Cylinder Press and Photopolymer Platemaking Lab, take Advanced Letterpress: Production Printing to learn the essential skills for creating professional-quality editions of your work. This class uses both the platen presses and the Vandercook cylinder presses and covers many topics specific to printing with photopolymer plates. Topics include design strategies for good printing, polymer plate setup and production, letterpress resources and press maintenance. Students will work with the teacher to design a project for production within provided guidelines.

This workshop, new to SFCB's workshop offerings, is also available to students who have completed Letterpress 1, 2, and 3 under our old programming system, and is highly recommended for those wishing to advance their letterpress skills.

Materials to bring: none
Materials Fee: $15

Each core curriculum workshop is part of a certificate program denoting professional-level skill in one of three areas: Letterpress printing, bookbinding and calligraphy. The core curriculum is designed to represent the “core” of our mission at the Center: To provide students with the highest caliber of education in traditional and experimental book arts.

Advanced Letterpress: Production Printing is the final class in the SFCB Letterpress Certificate program.
