In this one-day workshop participants will learn to make paste papers and learn about their history. One of the oldest decorated papers used by bookbinders, a distinctive quality of paste paper is its 3-dimensional pattern and design. This is achieved when paste is applied to the paper and a pattern is made in the paste. As the paper dries, the paste leaves a slightly 3-D pattern on a 2-dimensional surface.  Paste papers can be used for 3-D bowls, folded books, book covers, book end sheets, collage, illustrations and on fabrics. You will make 10-20 (or more) pieces of paste paper during this workshop!  We will also be making VERY LARGE paste papers you may want to use in the 3-D Boxes and Bowls workshop the next week!
