Registration Policies
The San Francisco Center for the Book offers more than 300 workshops each year in three broad categories: Printing, Binding, and Related Arts. Workshops are offered on a trimester basis, and registration begins as soon as the workshops are released online, and continues throughout the trimester. You are encouraged to register early, as class size is limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You may register in person, by phone, or online. Please note that we cannot reserve your place in a class without having received full payment. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your registration is complete. If the class is already full, you will be placed on a wait list and notified if space becomes available. You will not be charged unless space becomes available.
Registration Cancelation Policy: We will issue a credit if you cancel seven or more business days before your workshop. The credit must be used within 6 months from the date of cancelation. If you cancel less than 7 or more business days before your workshop, no credit can be issued and you forfeit the workshop fee unless a wait list has been established and another student can take your place. If a wait list has been established, you will be notified and receive a class credit that must be used within 6 months. If your class is canceled by SFCB, you will get a full cash refund. Please do not hesitate to call us at 415-565-0545 with any questions.
Additional Workshop Policies: SFCB caters to students' needs by offering in-person, group and individual education by qualified instructors. For this reason, photography and video recording of workshops are prohibited unless specifically authorized by the workshop's instructor. Under no circumstances shall audio, video, or photography be published online or in print without instructor consent or prior authorization by SFCB.
SFCB Wait List Policy: SFCB creates wait lists for workshops that have reached their capacity of registered students. If a space opens up in a wait listed workshop, students on the wait list will be contacted both via email and phone; priority will be given to the first person signed up on the wait list. Workshop registration remains open until the time a workshop begins and SFCB may contact wait listed students up to 5pm the day of a workshop, if the workshop is on a weekday, or 5pm on the Friday before a workshop, if the workshop is on the weekend. To be able to provide the highest quality instruction to the students registered in a workshop and to be fair to those on the wait list, SFCB will not allow wait listed students who show up the day a workshop begins to attend the workshop unless previous arrangements have been made with SFCB. SFCB accepts no walk-ins to workshops; pre-registration is required.
