SAN FRANCISCO CENTER FOR THE BOOK HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY
ROADWORKS: STEAMROLLER PRINTS
San Francisco, Calif.—August 21, 2006—The San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) hosts its third annual block party, Roadworks: Steamroller Prints on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at DeHaro between 16th and 17th Streets, 10:00am-4:00pm. This free event brings local artists and the community together to create unique large linocut prints that are inked and pressed by a two ton steamroller. The original prints will be auctioned at the Center's 10th Anniversary dinner on Friday, September 29th at Bistro 350. Roadworks: Steamroller Prints will bring together 10 local community artists who will create original linocut prints to be pressed by the steamroller. Artists include, Katherine Case, Daniel Gonzalez, Art Hazelwood, John Hersey, Hung Liu, Rik Olson, Endi Poskovic, Sonia Romero, Bill Russell, Ward Schumaker and Seiki Tachibana. The fun-filled day includes music by the Burning Band, straight from Burning Man, book art activities for all ages and booths featuring hand crafted book arts. "We are thrilled to be hosting our third annual block party fundraiser," said Kathy Barr, executive director of SFCB. "It is amazing to see the community pull together to help preserve the book arts. Our Center is unique in providing a place for diverse artists to express themselves through the book arts."
